IPI WoCo 2022 has ended
At the 2022 IPI World Congress, we’re more than a conference. We’re a movement for journalism. For two-and-a-half days, we’ll put journalism at the centre of the world, back where IPI first started in 1950 at Columbia University in New York.

The 2022 World Congress will run from September 8 to 10 as a truly global in-person and hybrid event.
Saturday, September 10 • 12:00pm - 1:30pm
Digital misogyny vs. pluralistic media: Responding to gendered disinformation and online harassment of women journalists

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Co-organised in partnership with the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media.

Gender-specific and sexualized campaigns capitalizing on biased gender narratives and exploiting misogyny not only defame women journalists, discredit their personal and professional reputation, but also reinforce harmful stereotypes and hate. Such online abuse is typically aimed at denying women a public voice and silencing them individually, especially those with intersectional identities, as well as at avoiding scrutiny and undermining public trust in fact-based journalism.

In this roundtable, organized by the OSCE RFoM, we will identify steps to address gendered disinformation against journalists and its detrimental impact on media pluralism and information spaces.
